10-13 June The 4-day intensive workshop led by Katsura Kan

The 4-day intensive workshop led by Katsura Kan explores the physical and philosophical foundations of Butoh, approaching it as a process of inner transformation rather than just a movement technique.

Participants will engage with the connection between body and consciousness, the performative power of silence and emptiness, and the influence of light, rhythm, and space through practice. Formed within the avant-garde scene of the 1970s–80s, Katsura Kan is one of the leading figures of contemporary Butoh, integrating dance, directing, choreography, and music into a unified performance language. His approach views tradition as the core source of contemporary performance.

The 4-day intensive workshop in Baku invites participants to explore both the physical and philosophical dimensions of Butoh and to build a bridge between tradition and contemporary practice. The translation will be available in English and Russian.

Participation is paid. Registration and more information: +994 55 514 69 89
